As a systems specialist, we develop and implement solutions that interconnect the energy, mobility, and industrial sectors.
Our technologies combine zero-emission battery and fuel cell systems with state-of-the-art diesel engine technology, enabling reliable, efficient, and scalable power solutions for the transition toward a sustainable energy future.
We position ourselves as an innovation and competence center for turnkey systems in emission-free energy supply — including decentralized power and heat generation units and advanced off-road powertrain solutions integrating engines, batteries, and fuel cells.
Through our international aftersales organization, we also support our customers as a service partner in implementing customized circular economy strategies tailored to their products, applications, and operational ecosystems.
We do what we do best.
And we do it exceptionally well.
A successful energy transition — and the effective interconnection of the energy, industrial, and mobility sectors — requires collaboration, knowledge transfer, and the pooling of strengths and expertise.
To meet its responsibility for climate protection, infrastructure resilience, secure energy supply, and sustainable job creation within a profitable and future-oriented corporate group, CBC has established a network of participations and partnerships focused on energy supply systems, propulsion technologies, circular economy solutions, and research & education.

Eco-FCGen – Decentralized Power Generator Based on Fuel Cell Technology (16EXI5538A)
Initial Situation
The objective of the Eco-FCGen project was to develop, manufacture, and test a prototype hydrogen fuel cell–based power generator designed for future industrial applications. The prototype was intended to serve as a low-emission alternative to conventional diesel generators, thereby contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
India was selected as a target country for one of the long-term field tests and for subsequent market introduction.

Results and Conclusion
During the course of the project, two prototype systems were successfully developed and subjected to a comprehensive factory acceptance test. In addition, a service and maintenance concept as well as a training program for the safe operation of the system were developed.
A sensor unit for monitoring the condition of the fuel cell stack was also designed, implemented, and validated under test conditions.
Through active networking efforts in Germany and India, relevant industrial and institutional partnerships were established, and both the market and environmental potential of the technology were confirmed.
However, due to technology-specific challenges in system development and the integration of various technological components, the planned long-term field tests in India and Germany could not be carried out within the project period.
Outlook
The project results provide valuable foundations for further research and development — particularly regarding the execution of long-term field tests, the development of predictive lifetime models for fuel cell stacks, and the analysis of suitable circular economy strategies based on condition assessment.
The findings will be further utilized by the project consortium, integrated into ongoing development work for industrial clients, and documented in a comprehensive experience report.
